Student Advocacy Committee Mission
The Student Advocacy Committee is dedicated to fostering a sense of belonging at Mines by creating an environment where students of all identities can thrive. The Student Advocacy committee’s mission is to support and empower all students through advocacy, policy development, and programming that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion. This committee strives to amplify the student voice through the work of the committee, ensuring that all students have equal opportunities to succeed and contribute to the campus community.
Student Advocacy Initiatives
The following are current initiatives the Student Advocacy Committee is working on:
- Bill- Common Hour Exams
- The Bill directs the Student Advocacy Committee to pursue revisions to the current common-hour exam structure through advocating for earlier exam times, the disclosure of exam times during registration, and other exam alternatives.
- Bill- JEDI Fund
- Provide supplemental, non-recurring funding for projects, events, or initiatives that promote Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) within the Mines community.
- To aid in the creation or expansion of programs, events, or initiatives by students or RSOs that embody JEDI principles, as determined by a rubric designed by the JEDI Discretionary Fund Committee (JDFC)

- JEDI Taskforce
- After the creation of the JEDI Taskforce in Spring of 2025, the Student Advocacy Committee is working with student leaders to help amplify voices across campus while centralizing efforts to maximize impacts on campus.
